help! speedo problem

keep losing my speedo after a few hundreed miles , after i change the side blue plastic gear on the tranny. i have changed the govenor drive gear and this has not helped although it does have a green drive gear in it as opposed to the orange one that should be in it. i am using the stock blue 30 tooth on the side gear. after a few hundreed miles it looks like the gear is making very little contact on the side (blue gear ) i can see a wear pattern of about maybe a 1/16 of a inch. this has happened 2 times with new gm gears and new metal side housings for the side gear . it seems after a few hundreed it must wear just enough to stop and chew about 4 teeth on the blue gear and no more speedo. i pulled govenor drive gear and it looks fine

anyone have this or have any ideas i really could use some help on this one. before i have no hair left at all
