OK I was a dumba$$ and took both engine oil cooler lines off of the radiator at the same time and then ordered new braided stainless ones. And now I forget which ones go to which port. Here is my question does the top radiator engine oil cooler line go to the drivers side of the adapter???Or does the bottom??

Thanks Kevin

Turbofrank is correct...top to driver's side...I had to go to the garage to be sure myself.

Other than factory hoses only fit one way, what difference does it make with regard to which way it flows? I see this question often with regard to tranny coolers. :)

I imagine you want the fluid to flow in the bottom of the cooler and push the air in it up and out the port on the top. If it comes in the top first it could possibly create air pockets in the cooler by the fluid flowing/dropping down and around bends and because the cooler tubes will never be perfectly level there will be air bubbles/pockets in the bend end that is higher than the other thereby loosing contact of the oil with the cooling tubes/plates which means less cooling area for the oil and aeration of the fluid. blah blah blah...

The factory ones will go on to the adapter eaither way also .Now the bends in the radiator will only fit without interferance one way. When I was trying to figure out the braided ones I got the factory ones back out and checked them and they will fit the adapter both ways with the other end attached to the radiator even though you would have to cross them to do it that way.

I don't know if it would make a difference but I do know on some aftermarket oil coolers they tell you which one they want the press to be and which one the return.Myself since I was just going thru the regular radiator I just wanted it to be the correct factory routing.

:) I was not questioning your asking. I am just curious if there is a difference as I have never seen a reason for plumbing one way, or the other. :)

I could sure bring some b.s. I seem to leave wisdom at home most days. :)

I am too far away to easily go but I bet it will be a blast as always. I still have some cars in Houston that I need to haul out here, tho. :)

It would probably be the intelligent thing to do...the Camaro has been in the paint shop for two years-it is painted but still waiting on the new top.

I started pulling the dash out of the elky last spring to replace the prior one which was cracked plus to redo all the wiring which was hacked by the prior owner...Dash is 75% out and it will give me fits trying to remember what went where...

I am the dismaster of long term projects.

My son has a T and a 9c1 down there and refuses to give up either one, but, never seems to have insurance or repair money....

I did get rid of another elky, but, I bought a '72 Vega station wagon out here....nope, wisdom does not come with years.:(

:D

there is only one letter difference between hero and zero. I broke a rocker shaft the other day and the bolt sheared off in the shaft pedestal. I am back to hating cars again this morning. :)

Picture of cooler adapter is, as you would see it on the engine.

Fitting on right = pressure out, to the remote cooler.

Fitting on left = return from the cooler, and into the oil filter.

Center big hole = filtered oil.

The oil flow path is:
-- leave cooler adapter (right fitting), to
-- enter remote cooler [bottom fitting on stock radiator],
-- exit cooler [top fitting on stock radiator]
-- enter cooler adapter (left fitting),
-- outside ring of small holes in filter,
-- thru filter element, to
-- clean oil exits filter in center big hole.
-- to engine block

I'm right behind you on that one Steve. Yesterday I was changing out my K-Y-B's and putting on the Billsteins like every upstanding Buick owner should when I snapped the bolt right off the left rear shock when I was tightening the nut. Bam!!! Knuckles hit the garage floor. Forehead hit the axle. Ass got red. The guy at the Zone said " you must have used an impact wrench", I said "no, a 285 pound man straining his pebbles off with a Craftsman wrench".

Then only to find out there is a three day wait for shipping from the Zone. Then only to find out that my driver's side motor mount had compressed so much that getting a socket on the front bolt was out of the question.

But I'm hell-bent to make it to E.J.'s.
