Help with Boost gauge install

Just a few quick questions..

1. Should I splice into the hard plastic line that comes from the intake into the block where my factory guage reads from?

2. Or should I buy a piece of rubber hose and connect it up, then splice into it?

Any other tips or tricks? Thanks
