I have no pictures but I know there was such a thing. I was stopped by one back in 88 on I-95 around Danbury. Later had the chance to buy one at state auction

Yeah,
I heard they had'em! I had a police officer stop by here in Ft. Worth this summer and tell me that back in 87 they begged for the GN's and were turned down!

Yeah they had them.

People used to line up behind my WE4 on the highway when I was doing 65 back when the speed limit was 55.

Pictures wouldn't be exciting since the lights were hidden like in the Camaros they still use today, and blazers etc.

Same car as you could buy on the outside.

All were T types and various colors, no GN's.

Ken I race with has one here in CT, his is burgundy, burgundy interior.

Plenty of others out there since they auctioned off a whole pile of them, probably around 40 total, that number is my guess, not sure if there are any actual records available.

I believe the Mazda 626 was the 1988 replacement choice, what a letdown! :D

Connecticut had GN's & T's as trooper cars. ALL cars were equipped with 225-60-15 Goodyear Eagle VR Gatorback tires, most had full size spares in the trunk, 145 mph certified speedo's, the cars had Special police package chips with the speed limiter raised. The digital dash cars had reprogrammed speedo's also. You will find a couple of holes in the dash & center console from radio equipment. Holes will be found in the trunk & rear seat brace from radio equipment. A few of the cars had factory radio delete, buick faceplate where the radio was & a chrome antenna plug in fender. The colors of T's that i remember at the auction & in service: White, Rosewood, Burgundy, light blue, dark blue, gray & silver and Black GN's. I'm sure there are some things i'm forgeting here but if you have any ?'s just ask. I was fortunate enough to purchase a few Turbo buick's from the state & was a State police certified fleet mechanic on there police cars for many years. I collected & saved all the rare police parts from several cars & have now brought my white T up to police spec's right down to the correct tires.

I got stopped by one, probably the same one near Danbury in 1988, later I got stopped by a corvette.....near waterbury....not fair, but the stop by the T fueled my interest in these cars.
There is a rosewood T that has been sitting in a Garage parking lot near me for over a year that looks like it might have been a Ct T

Louisville KY had a special traffic unit with 6 of the GN's in service. People used to go to court and argue that it wasn't fair, that those didn't look like police cars.
One of the guys even spent his own money to put nitrous on his but after several head gasket failures they made him take it off.
They used Hypertech off road chips. Their mechanic was the only guy I would let mess with my car for a long time.

Here in Virginia the state police had a few GN's. I remember reading a newspaper article about a trooper using his GN to block a speeding/ out of control {stolen? I can't remember} car with the passenger side of his car:eek: . I later saw that car at an insurance-impound lot under an awning with clear plastic over the passenger side, it was mashed hard. The trooper was not hurt and recieved a lot of praise for his actions. I know it was in the Washington Post in 89 or so.

They had them alright, Kirban had one for sale 6-8 years back. Even had the shotgun holder in it.

CT had them for sure. I still remember them even though i was only 10 years old.

I saw one for sale a while back on ebay. dont know if it was real or not, but it was there. I know they had them, I have seen other threads about this before and guys have came out with pics. anyway they had 145 mph speedos really?? I didnt know that. is there anywhere to get them??

Kirban sells a faceplate that is very close in detail to the original. You will have to have the speedo recalibrated to work correctly.

They had white Turbo T's in Hawaii, some still in service today.

In Hawaii each officer is given a certain amount of money each year to buy any car they want as a patrol car. Having lived on Oahu for three years, I have seen every type of car you could think of as a cruiser, and you don't know it until you saw the blue bubble gum light in the dash. So I don't think that would count.

beat me to it. im sure there were quite a few guys with Ts in HI. also a lot of monte SSs. there are tons of montes in HI, most I suspect were former police cars. im also pretty sure that hawaii has probally the largest concentration of B4C camaros in the US also, because there cops that can order the police package cars. I saw more than a few 90-92 models, the good ones with all the 1le goodies, for sale when I was stationed there. also they have to trade up after 10 years so any T that they would hae had is probally in the guys garage now or sold. those are only the cool cars, ive seen cops there driving around in toyota camrys also

i know of somebody right now that has 2 of these old cop cars they bought from the auction.both optioned identical.manual window and locks, bucket seats, chrome map light, digital dash, right remote mirror in dash power trunk,g80 limited slip .i did not think to see if they were radio delete or not.1 was black with grey interior the other was maroon on maroon both with chrome trim these people also have a typhoon that they say also came from the state auction.also eric rankin and bob from rpe both got their start with these cop cars.also i remember back when i was in high scchool 89-92 there was a poster that had a gn on one side 2 crown vics in the middle and a 5. slow mustang on the other side and some cops and the caption underneath said before you have one for the road think about the chaser !

I have that poster stashed away in a storage tube. It was given to me by one of the motorcycle troopers that posed for that poster. I will try to locate it and post a pic.
