Hey everyone, I'm new to the board, I've been reading here for about eight months now, but don't post often. I've got a couple of questions about a rebuild on my stock BRf tranny. My dad purchased a rebuilt kit from Summit a few weeks back, and I'm curious what I will need beyond what the kit provides. The kit is PN TCI-389000 at www.summitracing.com. Should I stick with this kit for my rebuild or should I get the more expensive ones from either TCI or CK? What exactly would be the difference in these kits?

I'm planning on running this car into the low twelves, but will serve as my daily driver. I'm going off to college in a year so I need to make this car reliable enough to bring me to and from school on breaks. This is my first attempt at a rebuild of a tranny, but I do have expirience with installing shift kits, as do I know the basic philosophy on the function of the automatic.

I was planning on buying Alto Red band, Upgraded Band pin (Where is the best place to buy all these parts?), Shift kit, new converter...What other parts am I looking at getting to meet my goals? Thank you very much, I appreciate the time you folks take to help us all out!

The cost of the tooling for doing just your tranny isnt worth it.Many have tried doing it themselves with poor results.

many here have rebuilt there transmissions with our parts and 200 page manual.step by step overhaul with photos as well as the largest collection of 2004r information anywhere in one place.you can do it as well.our parts and tech will get you thru it.visit the site.dont use some half assed kit that includes only half of what you need.give us a ring.ckperformance.com

Just so you are aware, the TCI 389000 kit includes the extra-wide Alto Red-Eagle Powerband and Alto Red Eagle direct clutches.

Well, thanks to you who replied today. I know that this project will be a challenge, and am fully aware of the risk of failure, but I think it will be worth the effort in the long run. A friend's dad owns a tranny shop here in town so hopefully I can recieve some assistance there with tooling, etc.

As for the kit previously mentioned, what might I need in addition to it for this rebuild. Does it come with the adjustable band pin? Does this kit contain teflon seals and rings? What about my servo, is that something that is rebuild, replaced? Or do I use my stock servo untouched?

Again, thanks for the help, I know this is only the beggining.
