I was trying to fit 6x9 speakers in the trunk and I took out the torque rods that hold the trunk open to make the speakers fit. That didn't work so I have them in boxes behind my front seats. I put the torque arms back in and the trunk still won't stay open. Do I have to twist the bars around to get the spring action back in them? I put them on each setting and they still don't hold the trunk open. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to fix this??

Just tried to put mine back in after having them out and they are not holding my trunk up either. They worked fine when I took them out. What is the trick? People are obviously making the same mistake but Im not sure what that is?? They look rite but the tension is not what its supposed to be.

Ok, figured it out. The torsion rods for the trunk hinges are driver and passenger side specific. If they are swapped side to side, they will not hold the trunk up. Remove them and swap sides and its back to normal.
