i recently bought one of these things and hooked it up pes ins,and when it comes on it will say retared degres 2.1 and go off ....DO YOU ALL THINK I HAVE A BAD ONE ??

Not sure what the retard degrees would be coming up on the power up screen for. The 2.1 is indicating the version number.
Powering down right away indicates it's not getting any data on the data wire.

We're talking about a scanmaster, right? Buick Scanmaster, right?
