Good morning everyone. Finally signed up to this forum. I've decided to sell my 67 Impala so I can own a Grand National. Loved these cars since high school. Looking forward to reading up on things to look for while purchasing and I'm curious if there's anyone on here that's in the Putnam NY area that I could pay to inspect one when the time comes. Happy Halloween 🎃

Welcome.

Are you in Putnam NY near Glens Falls or Putnam Valley?

Yes Putnam NY. Putnam valley is about 25 minutes west of me.

There’s another Putnam Valley near Poughkeepsie. Lots of TR owners down that way.

If you are the Putnam near Ticonderoga…. Well I’m in Albany. If you find one I can go with you to look. It’s easy to find a bad one. I drove all the way to Syracuse to look at a hack-job. Luckily I found a very unmolested one 1/2hr from me and grabbed it.

Mr. spool is offering his services it doesn’t get any better then that take him up on it and buy him Dinner and drinks.I am about 45 minutes away myself.

Wow, thank you so much guys. I am truly grateful. I didn't have a chance to get my car ready for sale so I winterized it and will try first thing in spring. I don't have the room for it until I sell the Impala. But if something comes up that I can't pass up I will def reach out.

You might want to keep the Impala.

These cars are money pits. Somewhat of an addiction. However… As II have seen posted here many times these cars are the mixture of an excellent drivetrain topped with shitty 80’s GM build quality.

Anyone can work on a 60’s Impala.. Not anyone can work on a turbo Buick. That’s where the problems begin, when you have to depend on others in a selective niche of the car enthusiast world.

Choices:
1) Keep the Impala
2) Buy a GN and bury your wallet, cards and checkbook in the back yard.

Have a separate bank account that your wife doesn’t know about as well.Mine says if something was to happen to me the first thing to go is that black box in the garage.

You might want to start eating out, or letting the cat try your food first!;)

Sounds like you have a garage issue...time for a bigger one. All cars are money pits, the amount is up to you. What's the deal on the Impala? BB, SB, LS swap (sell it) auto, 4 speed? BB 4 speed I'd definitely go the bigger garage route. Just really think it through, everyone has that one they shouldn't of let go.

Don't we have a TurboVader on here already, I remember that name. Well anyways, welcome aboard. Money pits? Anyone trying to modify any car Make is going to fall into the money pit, it's not specific to Turbo Regals. Those are harsh words... 🤣 Good Luck, there great cars.

No wife and kids here. 👍 …and a paid mortgage and 850 FiCO and this black boxy thing which has been trying its best to bury me for the last 15 yrs. I’ve learned not to just drop it off somewhere putting full trust in someone to do the right thing.

The first thing they’ll do is try to blow it up so that they can give you the Big Sorry phone call.
