Does anyone know if I put a Hemco upper intake and a 70MM TB on a stock lower intake if the hood will have enough clearance to close? Thanks.

Is your Hemco the same size as the stock one? This one is taller and I installed it last night and it doesn't seem to clear??

Is your the stock appearing version or their race version?

I guess it's safe to assume that you aren't using a plenum spacer?

Hemco offered two different style plenums..........I'm sure their stock appearing version should fit without issue.....not so sure about the race version though, as it's alot different looking and I'd bet the dimensions would be different as well.

If you're running HR Poly Motor Mounts it would definitely add to your problem here, as these will raise your entire engine by at least 3/4" +.

This is the stock appearing one (has the lines across the top), but it is taller than my stock one. I am not using any plenum spacers and have stock motor mounts. Do you know if the stock appearing hemco was indeed taller like mine? I also had trouble with the throttle cable bracket. I mounted it with the two 8mm screws on the top of the plenum, but it is too short to reach the stud going into the lower intake for me to screw it on that stud. It is probably short there by 1.0"-1.5". I also had to loosen the bolt that holds down the vacuum lines on the front of the lower intake (below the IAC housing) so the vacuum lines could reach the vacuum block.

I do recall hearing about issues mounting the throttle cable bracket....think they offered different screws or maybe even a different brkt. Don't know for sure.
I happen to have a 58mm and 62mm Hemco (stock appearing plenum) buried somewhere in my garage along with a spare stock plenum. (I guess I really am a "parts whore") LOL

Will try to find these and if I can dig them out, I'll take some measurements for you.

worn out body mounts especially at the #2 location will affect hood clearance

It's been years ago that I had the race version on my stock manifold and I remember I had to do something with that bolt and I put a think shim under that vacuum line tab but I didn't have any hood problem. I had all good body mounts and stock motor mounts.

yes it raises brkt mount location by about an inch or so and the fix for that is a threaded stud with a jam nut on either side of the bracket to mount the brkt foot to the stud and one more nut to lock it at the lower stud point. mine clears the hood ok also.i like my hemco 70mm stock appearing unit
