Hey guys what do you think about this?

Hey guys, I have an opportunity to get a 1984 gn with the leirs in it with t-tops for 10,000. The car lot guy wants it gone he's asking 13,900 for it. The car has been stripped done to bare metal and repainted looks new again. No rot in the trunk or on the floorboards or rockers or door seams. Seats have been redone with the right material on the bolsters. New seals for t-tops, trunk, and doors. The only thing is when I test drove it the turbo wasn't spooling or engaging. The turbo tach lights didn't light up either? Also it has a knock guage and boost guage on the pillar but those don't respond either? The car hasn't been looked at mechanically I guess but the speedo says 88,000 something (Who knows it might be 188,000) He says he'll get the turbo looked at and the guages. What do you guys think should I get this one or not? Thanks guys jretrodude :smile:

I agree with above, too much money for a hot air car. Stay with an 86' or 87'

Still too much for a HA in that shape.
With a GREAT running motor, tuned and "ready to go", it may be a different story. JMHO.

It's hard to say without seeing the car. $10,000 still sounds too high for a 88k 1984. If it's in excellent shape and with a quality paint job and the interior re-done and 88K miles, I'm guessing $8,000 with all the problems you noted fixed. Do a Carfax on the car to be safe on the mileage and other surprises.

$10,000 can buy a nice 86/87 TR.
