Need the part #'s for the check valves and vacuum block gasket. Can I just cut me a gasket out of gasket paper? How thick of gskt paper? Also where to get hylomar gskt dressing and is there any name brand of it to ask for?One more thing, how can I check my check valves to see if they're bad and is it possible that pcv could be stuck?Car is only driven about 1 or 2 times a month and was wondering if AC pcv could be stuck open causing high blms. Thanks man.Merry Christmas!!!

Gasket #25523194 and I don't put anything on it.
There are 3 different check valve #s
14047619
14056648
25525315
Hope that helps
Tarey D.

I'm not RAZOR, but I use one.
:D

Vacuum block gasket part number 25536028
Check valve part number 14047619
Plenum gasket part number 24502089

Check valve are the HD ones, that supercede the original part number. Much meatier.

The gasket trick, go to discount autoparts and buy a sheet of gasket material, cut a square piece 1 1/2 x 3 inches. Coat it with some gasket dressing(aka Hylomar) and mount it between the vacuum block and the TB. the two screws on the top, push them through the gasket, this will shut off all the vacuum sources from the motor. If your car is air tight, the blms should drop way below 128 to about 118-120. Once you connect the PCV and other lines, it will go to 128 assumming those lines are air tight as well.

Check valves only let air in one direction, so you dont apply boost to your EGR selenoid, AC system, charcoal cannister valve, etc... Thats why there is no check valve on your fuel pressure regulator or MAP sensor... or boost guage :) If you have a bad check valve, more than likely you have damaged what ever is on the other side of the check valve. the EGR solenoid diaphram will hold vacuum if you plug the hole behind the filter, and the charcoal cannister valve will hold vacuum as well. If it/they dont..replace them. EGR will hold vacuum as well, unless its punctured.

lastly.. a NEW AC Delco PCV valve is like 4 bucks...umm ahh..change it and be done with it. Actually buy a couple and change them once/twice a year.

BTW, I just checked, I have 4 brand new check valves, 3 VB gaskets, and like 6 plenum gaskets..I'm hoarding them..never know when GM will say..sorry..theyre on Back Order

Mity-Vac is you best friend for testing hoses and solenoids.

BLM's are way over rated  .. hehe

;)

Does it matter which check valve goes where? Now that I think about it I hope they are facing the right way..how can i be sure?

Ohh boy..your gonna feel foolish.. the valve on one side says VAC guess what direction that goes :D

Again..you wont be able and blow through it in one direction.

Black goes to TB, white to solenoids.

Thanks for the replies guys.Never looked on the ck valves to see that "vac" on there:rolleyes: I'm gonna find the cause of these high BL #'s so help me God!!!!!!! (It will probaly end up being the last thing I check!!!!!!!!):D

Wanna hint..just replace it all at the same time.. should take you less than an hour to replace both check valves, new vacuum lines, AC Delco PCV, vacuum block gasket...

Be done with it. cheap too..less than 25 in parts..

Or you can spend a weekend seeing if your 5 dollar check valve is OK?

Did I mention AC Delco PCV.. not Fram or Purolator or Wix..

I find myself being repetitititive sometimes :D

Learned my lesson long time ago about AC pcv valve, was using one of those "check valves" and BL's were way off and driving me crazy and I think Turbo Dave helped me out and told me to put in AC pcv and it took care of problem until now.
