Hi everybody ! im still a newb to the turbo buicks, but i have been very interested in them for quite some time. There is a gray 86 TT for sale nearby that i am looking at, I have 2 questions, what is the HP and TQ ratings and 1/4 Mile ET for a stock 1986-87 GN and T Type, how much more power does the GNX have?

and 2, i have read most of the info here and the other sites, but what would be an average price for an 86 TT with 100,000 miles, all stock, body in fair condition ?

Thanks for any help & info fellas

Welcome to teh boards

The basic stock power on an 86-87 GN/T-type is like 250bhp and 355tq while the GNX is around 270bhp and 360tq. Those are typical book numbers but I'm sure they're pretty close. I think the 1/4 mile times are around 14.5 stock but It's VERY easy to get down lower than that.

As for what the price would be, there is no telling without pictures and more info. I would guess it would run any where from 5000.00 to 10000.00 bux. Seeings how It's all stock with a 100k on it, I would say probaly around the 5k - 7.5k range. A few things that will also effect the price is, paint condition, A/C, T-tops, sun roof, and interrior condition.

I hope it helps

thanks for the info. i will try to get pics up soon, it may be a few days though. You see, i LOVE my car, (black 96 Impala SS), but i also love these Buicks, and my Impala is in very good shape, so i would only want to replace it with a Buick that is in equal condition, which i believe is going to be very hard to do considering my money situation at the moment. I hope this feeling will pass, but ive been itching to get my hands on one of these cars for a long time since i drove a *real* GNX at my job, (a Buick dealership). Driving that car was something i will never forget.

with about $500.00 in mods to a stock buick you can get down to low 13's if not high 12's, beating your best that you got with your impala. :)

if its completly stock i would get a new fuel pump, hotwire kit, dutweiller neck IC, bigger injectors like 36 pounders, a good chip like turbotweak, 160* thermostat ,adjustable wastegate, 3 gallons of regular gas to 1 gallon mix of xilene turn up the boost to about 22psi and your there, ahh i forgot to mention sticky tires. dont forget to get a scanmaster or some sort of scanner to make sure you dont blow it up. ;) alss make sure the car is in perfect working condition before going to the track and trying for high 12's at 20+ pounds of boost.

Welll I for one can understand you feelings towards the Impala SS. They're pretty clean and fun cars. The Buick is going to seem a little low tech in some ways but I'm sure you'll like the GN/T-type. How much is this guy asking for the TT anyways?

there is no sign or any info on the car. The reason i know hes interested in selling it is because i know the girl who lives across the street from him.

Welcome.

You can get a general ideal of the prices those are going for off of ebay. Just do a search on completed auctions.

The best site for info on these cars is gnttype.org. Alot of good reading there.

This page is one of the best for beginners to somewhat show an order in which to do things and what to expect.

Important thing is you should be able to duplicate the perfomance numbers in each stage. If you cannot then somethings wrong or your out of tune. Don't buy more parts before figuring out the problem. Tuning is very important on these cars.

Good luck with your purchase. A ton of good people on here to help you along the way.
