My 87 gn been setting awhile but I went to start it up and the rpms shoot up really high. I don't understand it was running great last time. I just order a scanmaster hoping it may give me an idea.if u got any ideas please chime in thanks

Have you looked at your vacuum lines? Could be a vacuum leak. Just a place to start. How long has it set and what RPM's it running at? Maybe the throttle body is a little sticky and gummed up and not coming back all the way. Spray it good with some throttle body cleaner to loosen it up.

It sat for about a year with no battery. Ill double check the vacuum lines. does the computer need to reset its or maybe relearn its self.

I thnk that is normal actually. When you disconnect the computer/battery the computer has to re learn and the first start up rpms will shoot way up. Once the computer relearns it should be fine.

You might want to check your IAC valve to make sure its not stuck.

Most likely it is the normal high idle initial start up after having the battery disconnected. Does it still do it?
