high Idle need help

hey guys been having this probalem for a while already my car idles at 2000 in park or nuetral when i put it gear it drops to alittle over a 1000 n wants to rise little by little at times i had a borken o2 sensor thought would help but it didnt do anything for my idle wt is causin my car to idle so high? wat can i do to fix it /? and wat is the proper settin or wats the proper idle for a stock 85 wit only K&N and 3 inch dp ( was idling high before any mods done to it ) any advice is arrecited thanks
