The last couple of times I drove my car I noticed it seemed as it has bounced off the rev limiter just as it was about to shift 1-2 at wide open throttle. It's not flaring, wheels are not spinning and it's pulling hard. The only recent change I had made was a taller tire 275/60 Nitto 555r and I also adjusted the TV cable the correct way. Both times it happened while I was annihilating my buddies newly acquired big block Camaro.

It's pretty cool lately too, temps in the 10 degree Celsius range. I also have Alky so I know this is not good as it will still be spraying and could cause a super lean condition. If I keep the pedal just off the floor, it's fine. I am leaving the shifter in OD or D. Trans is fresh last year.

Any ideas? could the cable be too tight, should I back it off one click. It's never done this before. My mods are in the Signature below. Extender Chip.

Thank You!

I was hoping to back the TV cable off one notch but it's raining here today, so it will have to wait. I also checked the specs on my extender chip, says 6 thousand rpm rev limit.

Could the cable being too tight actually be raising the shift point that much?

It's hard to describe but car shifted right at the moment the rev limit hit, nose dipped for a split second, shift happened then started pulling again. It has only done it twice and like I said, it's cool out and its making good power. The shifts were very quick, firm and fast spinning the tires on the 1-2, no sign of flare, 2-3 is very very fast and also spins the tires, it has the dual feed mod. I can't get a good reading off the tach and looking at the scan master is almost impossible, numbers "rpm, changing way too fast to read safely while I was driving. I'd hate to think I hit 6,000 rpm with stock cam, I do have ported, polished heads with new springs though. Bottom end is stock, about 55,000 miles.

My question is, could an overly tight tv cable cause the raised shift point. It was fine last year, then I adjusted it the proper way while I was going through some spring cleaning, it did ratchet and might be a notch or two or three tighter than last year.

Since I didn't get any responses, I got under car, installed a pressure guage, it read 105-110 psi. at idle, I noticed when I went out for a drive I did get a couple of second gear starts when car got hot. I backed off the cable two notches, pressure went down to about 90 psi at idle. I took car out again, part throttle shifts felt good, quick responsive, no more delayed / no 1-2 shift. Since I had a new cable I had purchased from NOS4GN, I decided to change mine out. Once again, adjusting the cable the correct way I had over 100psi of pressure at idle, I then had second gear starts after car got hot. I backed off the new cable one notch and all is good now. My 1-2 shift is lightning fast but my 2-3 is even faster, it's crazy.

Hope this helps someone if they have the same issue.
