Here is a taste of what the LS fest is like in Bowling Green,KY. Take a moment to view the many things different at this event vs our GS Nationals. I think incorporating some of these events might bring more people out of the wood work but maybe not. Know body really knows what will work to bring a better attendance or more cars unless things are tried right? Put the videos on 1080p HD & Enlarge your screen and Take a look...

*Drag racing
*Autocross
*Speed/Stop challenge
*Country side cruise
*Engine tear down challenge
*Much more!

** Action Overview**

** Autocross ** (Look at how it was layed out on the circle track! 2:55 in the video)

Thats really cool Scott!!! That would be a blast to try!! Im lookin for a ride!!! Mike

I would like to see some Autocross Action myself at the GS National...Looks like those guys was having fun just doing different things....something for everybody...Nice

First of all the fact that they have someone doing these killer video's get's them a bunch of publicity and advertisement, Video's of this caliber are a MUST for any event to gain publicity and to advertise for there event! Nelson Febus done a fantastic job at his video's and spent insane hours editing them but the big difference here is in the Marketing and placement of the video's... They have their Vendors posting these video's on their own web sites, they have these posted on the LS forums, Pro-touring forums, and even the LS fest web site... EVERYONE helps do the promoting! Like the GS Nationals for example there really is no Media advertizement and what is happening is they are basically Hoping for a good turn out when a lot of people don't even know about it. After time I guess ALL Buick owners are just supposed to know about this by now and that isn't the case. There are hundreds of cars sold each year to people who never owned one before and have No Clue about the GS Nationals or even TB.com for that matter.. Those people need to be reached somehow!

I went to the LS Fest at BG yesterday. All I can say is that the GSCA event next month will suck in comparison. The LS event is what the Buick event NEEDs to be. Autocross, dyno challenge, engine swap challenge, show and shine, not to mention plenty of heads up and index racing. Something for everyone. Then there will be the Buick event next month with the same 'ole same 'ole......ie the VIN sniffing farts, chrome bolt on polishers, along with all the bickering in the multitude of heads up classes.

X100.... I agree 100%. ALL these Buick events need to do some complete re structuring if any of them ever plan for their events to make it in the future.

I was almost there Will but DSE needed my displays at another show so I had to deliver them and they asked to have my car at there booth too so I missed the LS Fest. All good though because All of those guy's that were at the LS Fest Auto-crossing will be here at the "Run Through The Hills" event in two weeks and I will get to compete with them here.

Example: Even the RTTH events thatt are put on by a good friend of mine have 5 events at each one unlike the GS nats! Bill Howell does a great job with his RTTH events and they are a Blast to attend. All his events are FREE to spectate,can't beat that!

The RTTH events have the following:

* Mountain cruise (usually the Tail of The Dragon) with a BBQ dinner that follows hosted at a different race facility each year.
* Autocross
* Autocross driving school put on by (10 Tenths) Danny Popp
* Drag strip fun
* BAER brake "Speed/Stop Challenge
* Trophies, giveaways consisting of (Set of Forgeline wheels, BFG set of tires, shirts, hats, DSE products, Air ride products, ETC)

Will, are you certain that you were at BG Saturday? 'Cause the car count was definitely down from last year, however the spectators attending the event was up. And there sure was alot of down time on the drag strip. They did have alot of vendors that attended. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have close to twice the cars at the Nats last year, as to the car count at Holley's LS Fest on this past Saturday. It seems as though all the events at BG this year are down on participation. At the NMCA event, they ran the regular Sunday track schedule during the event.

Well it sure looked like BG - but I could be wrong............:rolleyes:

I didn't say anything about the attendance - I was simply commenting on the structure of the event. I'm pretty sure all car events are off this year in this poor economy. I was at an NMRA event in Ohio at National Trail (yeah, I know - a Ford event) and I'm pretty sure it was the worst turnout they had ever had. Even the NHRA US Nationals at Indy was down in attendance as well as entries this year. Anyone who goes to some of these events outside of the Buick world can see that most of our events pale in comparison as far as event structure and activities going on that cater to a wide variety of people. Think about it, the GSCA event is nothing more than a lame car show and a bunch of drag racing - nothing wrong with that but it's not for everyone.
