The most dangerous part of your flight is statistically proven to be your drive to the airport...Take a course/class or whatever to get over this fear of flying thing. Do it right the first time and buck up for first class and have a great experience. Anywhere on the planet is within your 24 hour 'drive' limit, as long as your in a plane. Failing that, I could suggest a case of beer, a gallon of Mazola and a huge sheet of plastic...should add up to a lot of fun all by itself

How do you feel about boats? Take a seven day, six night cruise out of New York. Let the ships captain do the driving. If you are flexible on your leave time, you can contact a travel agent and tell him that you want a cabin above the water line with a window for like 150 per day. The thing with that is you will be called on a Wednesday of Thursday for a Friday or Saturday departure date. You get a great cabin at a great price, but have no plan time and have to drop everything at a moments notice.
The cruise ships just want to fill all cabins, better to get 150 per day for a cabin than let it go empty and get nothing because, obviously, the cabin leaves with the ship whether it is occupied or not.
