Hood liner pad

Need some ideas on my hood pad. It's in great condition except for the area sitting over the turbo. Has anyone been able to repair this area with success. If anyone has repaired and or replaced this area let me know your idea.

I would make a heat shield to fill the hoodliner detent. Brad
