I usually to go Englishtown with my 72 Camaro but have been taking my 1987 GN recently and i happened to have just put on some Nitto 555R's. I had them at about 19 pounds and went around the water box and couldn't get them to hook up. I realise that i should run them at about 13 pounds or so but will they hook up at that pressure. What kind of boost should i be leaving the line at by foot-braking it? Should i spin the tires in the water? Will these tires eventually hook and what should i do to get that to happen. Any support is definately appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Ben gets 1.7's with 25psi. air in his, I hate him. :D

I run them at 18-20psi. air and get 1.8's. :(

I wouldn't run them any lower in air pressure however.

4psi. and I get spin.

No water I back into the burnout rubber left over water area.

Heat mine decently with the line lock too.

The half dead ones I bought use work better on the GN so I would say as the tread goes away they hook better. :)

salvage, perhaps you have other suspension problems? I've been cutting 1.70's(even a 1.68!) on my 555R's. I did notice that they needed a decent burnout though.

I have 17in nittos and have had a best 60ft of 1.68.I have seen a 1.54 60ft on the same tire on a 87 corvette.I have also seen a 1.59 on a buick with 15in tires. If yours are new you need to do a John Force burn out the first time out to break them in then they should get better.I leave on 5psi on the foot brake and get 1.7s around here on a slick track 315/35/17 tire

Thanks a lot guys. I have the motor totally apart now and am sending the parts out to various builders. I'm gettin a three angle valve job done, block re-doing with acid, crank resurfaced. After all that im gettin a fuel pump and rear air bags. Should be a pretty nice deal to ring in the next year. Oh yeah, you can't go without some JE's. Thanks for your help.
