I've read several times in the engine tech section about the benifits of a roller cam in the IC cars. How well would a roller cam improve the performance of our cars? What are the negatives of installing one in a daily driver?
Thanks, Steve

The only negative part of it is the price. If money is no problem, It would be a great benefit. The only problem is choosing the one to suit your needs.
I am in the process of building my hot air roller cam motor.

“If” you are not having problems with the current cam, leave it alone!
Run good oil with ZDDP and you should be fine.

“If” you are replacing it because it needs to be replaced, or, you just want to replace it, than there really are not negative performance to a hydraulic roller set-up, DD or not.

According to the comp cam site, there is 60Hp difference, all else being equal, but, there is much greater potential.
Here is a good read.

Very true.
What cam are you looking at?

Dang. $840 for 60HP.

It better be noticeable!

Just "my" rule of thumb;
Cam ~ $14/HP
Alky ~ $10/hp
Heads ~ $25/hp
Turbo ~ $22/HP

You can see which is the biggest bang for the $.

Well, that's not too bad I guess.

Might not be a bad idea to knock those things out first and then move on the bigger stuff after that. (Alky+Cam being the first things bought and installed)
