hot turbo?

i presume that they mean its a hot air turbo.. but can this turbo fit any year TR? and (i could be wrong) i thought that it was a bad idea to take a hot air car up to 30psi with out an intercooler? i know its bad to take a stock 86/87 TR turbo over 23psi..
