Hot Water heater question

Oh great and powerful TB.com, I have found an external leak in a pvc pipe that runs from my hot water heater to an underground pvc pipe outside. The pipe will be repaired in the morning, in the meantime, I have cut the water to the house to stop the leak, should I turn the power off to the hot water heater as well?

Thanks to all the tb.com plumbers out there for any help.

yes, if you shut off water and are draining tank through usage
