A friend of a friend has a 85 T, black, wants to sell it. Said he would take $2,000 for it.

Don't know too many details, supposed to be solid in good shape except for a dent in one of the doors (I think its in the door) from someone kicking it.

My friend who is friends with the guy said it might have somewhere around 100k on the clock, but was kind of sketchy.

I don't know too much about hot airs. Hot air guys, opinions?

This car will see snow. I'm fine with that, I've been driving nothing but RWD cars in the snow since the day I got my license.

I will hopefully have pics soon.

Input?

I got my '84 when I was young, single, and could only afford one vehicle. It handled the Minnesota winters just fine for the 2 that I had to drive it. I was running 235/60r15 BFGoodrich tires thru the winter, and got around OK. Much like you, I learned driving RWD in the winters as well. I've read from others about needing snow tires, but I never had 'em. The biggest problem I had was the doors freezing shut. The frameless door windows wanted to freeze to the weatherstrip. 'Course washing it often to try and keep too much road salt build-up off didn't help with that door problem.

That price is pretty good I suppose. Mechanincally I don't think there's much that stands out as a problem. Pretty much the same with any other vehicle that is as old as these cars.

Good luck with it if you do pick it up. You might want to post in the hot air section as well for more input. I don't know that everyone checks here as often.

I have my 84 T-Type for 8 years now and had been a daily driver for 7 years. I put on 40K miles with no major problems. Still got the original turbo in it.

I'm not willing to pass up features that newer cars have for a daily driver, like ABS(once in a while, i forget how to drive) and airbags and CUPHOLDERS!!!! and better factory stereos. I personally think it's hard to beat a pickup as a daily, I drove my Monte SS for 4 years daily and hated it pretty much. Charlotte traffic is so bad any car is tortured every minute it's on the road. Columbus has better roads than Akron, though. And a little less snow.
