OK so here goes, I am on my way home from work in my 87 t type, 76k original miles, never been raced (at the track), shift kit, TR custom parts cold air kit, volt booster for f/p and adjustable regulator when my car will not move when the light turns green! I called around and three shops said that the input drum shaft probably sheared and that it just happens, does this sound right? I had no problems with the trans prior to this and it shifted great, it just all of the sudden would not transmit power. Has anyone had this happen and does the diagnosis sound correct? Could I have damaged anything else in the process? I am trying to arm myself with some knowledge so I dont get it without getting kissed first!
Thanks for any input guys!

Could be.....

input shaft or fwd. drum shaft possibly pump/slide/rotor too. simple pressure check will rule out pump, check this thread

if not the pump and is either one of the shafts, it's a good chance no other major damage was done and just need to replace them. they do break in a stock setup as well as a race one, but you may as well have the trans gone thru while your in there.

THANKS!!!

Funny thing, I sometimes pull my car into our shop to check the fluids, add bug juice and clean the windows, what was in the thread was exactly what I encountered today when I did this! I thought the car sounded like it had a cracked header and climbed all over it expecting to find just that. Within twenety minutes, my commute home, the trans let go! I will post what the guys find, this site and all involved are great, just like and extended family!
