How do I get the top clip off of the hood struts ?

Need to replace my hood struts. The bottom clip seems to just pop off with a screw driver.
I cant seem to figure out how to get the clip off the top one so that I can remove the piston. (the one on the hood).

Here is a photo of the clip I am talking about. Where I drew the red arrrows, am I suppose to pry it outward or inward or whatever ?

Just use a screw driver to get them off, your new hood struts comes with new clips so no need to reuse them.
