How do i pop my hood manually?

The cable must have disconnected or something because i cannot pop my hood. Does anyone know how to pop the hood on an '86 GN without using the lever inside? I need to replace my a/c with a delete pully before i can get it running again. And i need to get the hood up to do so, please help.

This has been happening to me lately. I need to align and grease the hood. The way I get it open is to pull the cable and then slam the door with the windows up a few times until it opens.

Lol. Sometimes when I pull the handle, the hood does not pop up. But I get out of the car after pulling the handle, then push down firmly and repeatedly (like CPR) on the hood where the latch is, and it will pop up. When standing in front of the car, I push on the very front, just to the left of the crease down the middle of the hood.

i used to hit the corner of the hood, but then i greased it : )

don't do what i did and do that cpr manuver on the hood TOO hard otherwise you will put a nice dent in it like i did...mine is still there and makes me sick to my stomach that i could do such a stupid thing just because i was in a hurry to get the hood open...sigh i will fix all my dents in my car one of these days

Once you get the hood open try stretching the spring, it worked for me.

Greasing it should fix it....

if the cable moves freely (no resistance) then you are going to have to reach up inside with a coat hanger to pop it. Grab the little lever and pull to the drivers side............MAJOR PITA

once you do get it open, run a piece of string to pull it the next time untill you get a new cable.
