How do I remove front wheel bearing races?

I'm putting my front suspension back together and have new wheel bearings. Just from some light tapping with no luck, it looks like the bearing races need to pulled or pressed out. How do the races come out?

I searched in my service manual, but have not found anything yet.

Hi Tim,
Those races will come out with a hammer and a punch.
Look inside the rotor at the back side of the race (fat side)
you'll find some notches cut into the rotor that will allow you
put a punch on the back side of the race and pound it out.
Go side to side with your punch and pound it out evenly.

If you don't have a race installer, grind the outer diameter of
the old race to make it slightly smaller (so it won't get stuck)
or use a cutting disc to make a cut through the old race to
give it a little flexibilty.
Then use the old race on top of the new one to pound it home.
It would help if you could find a piece of metal or something to
go across the old race, allowing you to pound it in the center
so it goes in evenly.

Mike, thanks for the great info. I did notice the indentions in the back side of the rotor behind the race, and that was where I was beginning to punch it, but thought I had better ask before I broke something. I just got some new grinding wheels and can use that to cut through the old race. I'll find a flat piece of metal to go over the old race to punch it in evenly.

I looked some more in the service manual, but never did find anything on the wheel bearings/races, mostly just disconnect, reconnect symbols . You just can't get "experience" info from the repair/service manuals, although the front suspension torque specs have been handy

If you ever get a bearing race where you can't get behind to punch it out, you can run a bead of weld around the inside of the race area and let it cool and then it will practically fall out. Just my 3 cents, inflation you know.
