I want to do something with the shield, but am trying to figure out how it comes off before i turn a simple idea into a huge project..

thanks

can i do it with the motor still in?

Good Luck, it can be done, but there is a bolt in the back thats a pain to get at. Might be easier with the valve cover off.

No need to remove anything. Reposition wires, etc, so that you can get to the small screws on the bottom. I remember 1 screw at bottom rear & 1 at bottom front just above (maybe against) the downpipe. Hold a small mirror down there so you can see the hex head of the screw. :)

Last screw out back on the bottom is a B!tch!!!

Get it started with long needle nose or some sort of pliers. You can't turn it much that's for sure.

Got it out the rest of the way with a 1/4" drive socket with my fingers for the wrench.

Move the wiring etc.

I don't think the 1/4" drive wrench or little breaker bar will even fit in there.

If you trim the bottom off the thing you can eliminate that tiny screw. :D
