I know we can run deep into the 10's with a set of cleaned-up stock headers on our '86-'87 cars.

How fast can we run our hot-air cars with the stock headers cleaned up?? Lee??

TIA,

K.

Drivers' side is the same. Passenger side and uppipe suck compared to the 87 design. You can get a stock style replacement from Postons that looks as good as the stock 87 passenger side. If you take the wrap off of the uppipe, you would see that it necks down to less than 2" in places and it's not mandrel bent. ATR sells a nice 2.25" peice. I've looked for a 2.5" pipe with no luck.

The hotair crossover is a double wall design. Some say it's more restrictive, I don't know, because the outside is also bigger than the 87 pipe so the inside could be the same.

Our downpipe is also crappy compared to the 87. To answer your question, I've been 106mph through the 1/4 on stock turbo and headers but I think that's really pushing it. Headers and downpipe on a stock hotair are worth a good .5 seconds.

Postons makes an up pipe that seals better than ATR. The bell shaped end that bolts to the header is wider than the ATR and fits better. I have both.

with the stock hot air headers i thought you could get into the 11s ? this is with stock headers you would definitly need to upgrade the up and down pipe.and of course everything else.
