How hard is it to install an alarm?

Going to be installing a stereo system in the TTA and was wondering about putting in an alarm at the same time while I am there. Never hooked one up before. Have a few questions also.

I am planning on using a Viper alarm.

1. Is this something that is easily installed? I know alarm shops charge alot for installation but they also charge 50 bucks to install a stereo deck. I don't mind if its time consuming.

2. Is the starter kill needed even if I have the GM passkey/passlock system?

3. How many sirens can I run off of one alarm?

4. Do T-Top cars require additional sensors?

Good choice! New models just got released a few days ago. Viper, Python and Sidewinder are all exactally the same just the remotes look differently. Also check out the new Responder 2-way.....

An unexperience installer will take some time but its not impossible to do, you can save allmost $120-200 if you do it yourself. I'll post a wiring diagram that will "aid" you in the install, just follow the installation instructions......

WIRING INFORMATION - PONTIAC / FIREBIRD / 1989 / Security

12volts red + ignition harness
Starter yellow + ignition harness
Ignition pink + ignition harness
Power Lock lt. blue + drivers kick panel
Power Unlock black + drivers kick panel
Parking Lights+ brown switch or rear harness Door Trigger white - pin or courtesy light
Trunk/Hatch Pin black/orange - at cargo light
Hood Pin none
Trunk/Hatch Release brown - at switch Tachometer white, purple/white AC at coil
Horn Trigger black - steering column

GM passkey/passlock systems works pretty good but nothing wrong to add a starter-kill.

The DEI sirens are one of the loudest sirens in the market I say around 128db. Add an addition back-up battery siren from DEI part #515R it have a self contained battery and a supplied security key. Most thieves will aim for the siren first to eliminate the noise.

You can add a perimiter sensor but these sensors thend to false if not properly adjusted. Have you car fully protected with shock protection, door, hood and trunk protection, starter disable and the battery back-up siren and a good visual LED.

Is this a Bose system? I believe it is but this might be a difficult task unless you get the right Bose interface for aftermarket radios.

Its one of those. There is no real harness to speak of as there are four wires comming out the back of the deck. They are very small maybe 20 guage? I am going to be running my speakers directly off the amp. Pioneer deck. Custom carpeted kicks with Crystal separates. JL10W6 Sub and a rockford power 750X amp to run it all. Got really good deals on Sounddomain.com The "Bose" wiring will be left in place and I will just rewire the whole system from the battery back. Thats why I was wondering about the alarm because I will be removing a lot of stuff.
