How hard to change tcc selenoid?

It's nice to finally have my convertor lockup. When I fixed my cruise by adjusting the plunger on the brake pedal it started working. Now it works part of the time. It will stay engaged too long sometimes. It might work on a 30 mile road trip but not work on the way back. Figuring it could be the tcc selenoid. Where do I get one? How hard to change?

Be sure and triple check the pedal switch and make sure its in the proper position. I have seen where they can be crooked and not be square on the pedal.

To replace the TCC sol you must drop the pan and the sol is in the front area two wires going to it.... blk and red I believe.

Remove the bolts pull the solenoid out and either splice in the new one or if using the GM one it comes with a new harness (not sure of the aftermarket).

Make sure oring on new one is lubed and not torn and install in rev procedure.

Go ahead and get a service kit for the trans and change the filter and gasket while in there also, clean the magnet and pan out/do a trans fluid service

call around for the tcc. i got an ac delco one for $75. no splicing, comes with the complete harness.

I got mine from one of the Buick dealers listed on gnttype.org with a 'turbo regal' discount. Very reasonable, and you get the correct genuine GM part with proper connector and oring. Got a filter/gasket there too while I was at it. Wouldn't recommend any 'universal' types..... procedure for the repair is detailed at gnttype as well.

TCC Solenoid test????

Is there are way to test it, to make sure that it is in proper working order?

I have tranny completely disassembled and the TCC solenoid looked ok during quick glance, but if there is a way to test it, I would surely like to know what it would be

There's no good way to test it outside the transmission. They usually fail when they get hot. When in doubt, put a new one in.
