How many parts to the steering wheel assembly?

My car had part of it held together with Super Glue when I got it. I went to put the steering wheel on today and one of the collars has too much slop in it giving me the notion I am missing a piece. I took the wheel assembly down to the metal plate with all the cuts in it. Here is what I have starting at the outside working towards that plate:

-horn button
-steering wheel
-collar with three cuts in it the steering wheel resides in (this thing has three holes in it that looks to be for screws but has nothing I can see to screw into)
-plastic cover that goes over the metal plate that has all the cuts in it

Anything missing?

Hmmmmm.... no one has take one apart? Interesting.

Take one apart?

There's a bazillion little parts in there, you never take one apart!

Service manual is generic to all sports steering wheels and tilt columns.

However it shows this:

1. Cap or horn button
2. Horn lead wire
3. Retainer prolly holds the nut on there from turning
4. Nut, no not you the one for the wheel
5. Wheel


Under that is where you go to a new diagram that has the bazillion parts.

Shows a housing, spring, cancelling cam assembly, shaft lock, retaining ring, shaft lock cover.

Since the wheel is off can't see the parts the wheel sits on really.

Perhaps it goes right on the cancelling cam assembly with the spring on top of it?

Do you mean the plastic collar on the bottom of the steering wheel is sloppy?If that's what you mean it should be held to the bottom of the st. wheel with 3 screws.

Yes, that sounds like what I mean. The plastic thing with three holes in it was glued when I took it apart to put the new steering wheel in.....I guess the previous owner lost them. Anyone know the size of these three and what on the steering wheel they screw into? Thanks!

I do have a stripped steering wheel I just picked up.

On the bottom of the hub part there are 3 tapped screw holes in the metal. Tapping is about 1/4" deep.

They are metric I believe since that's the only thing that would screw into them. M4 perhaps but definately out of the metric drawer of screws.

The holes on the bottom of the steering wheel are located at the 3 oclock,6 oclock and 9 oclock poistion.In my parts manual it describes the screw as M4 0x0.7x8 That doesn't mean much to a dummy like me,all I know is the head size is 7mm.

Pete and everyone else thanks for the pics and help! He glued it so it wouldn't rattle When I took it apart I loosened the Super-Glue and since there were no bolts in that plastic piece I kept cranking down on the steering wheel nut thinking it would eventually tighten up. Now I am going to have a fun time pulling the wheel back off. At least I know now what I need to get to fix it right.
