Not sure I'm in the process of trying to get my car dialed in. If I'm running a alky chip does that mean I always have to have the alky on...

Call the chip maker and ask. I'm sure he would be happy to
help you. There might be more timing in the Alky chip.

The alky chip will have more timing , therefore I would run the alky with it or more octane if you are gonna be pushing it.

alky chip should have enough fuel for 17-19 psi and may be a little pulled out on the spoolup but fuel isn't the problem at 17psi with alky off ... the timing is

to run 91 octane only you should only be running 18*/16* timing (93 chip is 19*/17*) and maybe you'll be able to run 17psi on a cool day but i doubt it on a stock turbo /stock i/c car

alky chip will have as base setting 23*/20* timing (sometimes 23*/ 21*)

if you can back the timing down 18*/*16 do so ...or get a 91 street chip if you're going to run without alky

Its tough to say-every car seems to be different.I use 94 octane & Im limited to like 14PSI w a stock car w a TT chip,& at that I had to pull some timing out!.Guys will see more safe boost w a Dutt. neck IC,& or use the RJC plate, but they still call thier cars "stock".So it all comes down to every car being different.Car feels gross slow with anything less that 16-18 lbs boost IMO!LOL!

Dunno if this makes any difference but when I had Eric do my TT chip he set it up for 20/18 on 92 octane and 16-17 PSI. What kind of 93 chip were you referring to?

If you have a recent version TurboTweak chip (92-3 + Alky typically), you can dial-back the timing to 18/16, perhaps add a little fuel to cover alky-absence, & likely run around 15-16# boost--ballpark enuf??

93 street ( non alky) , the poster asked about running without alky
, 20/18 is (in most cases) is too much for a 92 street chip unless the combo has improved intercooler or maybe alum heads .... or no knock sensor

I'm running 20#s on 92 and 104 octane booster

104 octane booster? what kind of snake oil dribble schmuk conned you into beleiving that garbage worked?...lol:eek:

3 oz of actone per 10 gals fuel..helps to atomize fuel better plus better milage on road trips.
Gal of toulene or xylene in your tank and your octane will boost. but your wallet will unboost depending on where you buy it and if any discount

that 104 crud wont boost nothin and it makes your plugs dingy

turbomonte gave a ballparlk , others have said all cars are different ..which is true and an understatement

octane generally dictates the timing ,but compression does as well (either by design of engine or cam )
lower timing with less octane higher w more octane
fueling needs to be tuned first without knock then if you reach what you want to run boost wise and everything looks good you can try more timing

approach any boost with care and watch the tune (scanmaster ) , if it looks good you can go a little more , if it doesnt back it down till numbers look good and thats how much you boost can run ,

lots of variables to cause you to run under what is considered normal and lots of variables can allow more than whats considered normal for the octane

The reason I was asking is because ran out of alky so I turned my boost down to 12-14# & it was showing about 2.1 knock..

timing on my chip is 23*/21*

Accurate 20# "boost" in intake = unbelievable--unless timing only 15/13 or less and large intercooler, etc...

I run 20# with 0 knock on 93 octane pump gas ONLY and it's NOT at the limit yet ,timing is 16 and yes ,every car is different but stock or small intercooler means 15/16# , aluminium heads /large front mount IC /proper fuel /tune /proper cooling of motor means 20# plus ,and yes it's accurate 20# of boost , my electronic boost controler has it's own boost sensor and that matches my boost gauge perfect ...but with respond to original question , unless you have a way to control timing than alky chip needs WORKING alky period !

I am running a solid 19# on 91, not sure of the timing on the chip though but it is a TT.
