I have A one car garage and I am looking to replace my torque convertor soon:D How much clearance from ground to frame rail do I need to pull the tranny out from under the car? I have one of those garage door openers were the motor is right above my car, thus I have limited amount of space to raise the car. I am not opposed to removing the garage door motor per say, but would prefer not to:)
Also Any tips, tricks, or things to watch out for???

Thanks In Advance:)

You need a floor jack with a lift height of about 19". Measure
at the tranny pan. 18" here should be enough to get it out from under the car by yourself by tipping the bellhousing downward as
you pull the tail toward the frame. All tires should be about 5"-6"
off the floor. Tie off some wire to the hood hinge and drop it down the dipstick tube so you will know where to put it upon
installation. Drain and remove the pan, remove the TV cable bolt and TV bracket from the valve body and push the cable up. Unbolt the dipstick from the engine and push it up and through the case, also. Make sure your converter is at least 1"-1-1/8" behind the face of the bellhousing before bolting up the transmission. The converter must not contact the flexplate before the bellhousing face contacts the engine block or damage to the pump can result. Make sure no wires fall between the engine and trans while bolting it up.
