i wanted to know how much oil pressure is too much at hot idle

Damn man. You must have one hell of a pump or something that keeps your oil cold all the time.

That is more than the Pro Stock cars maximum oil pressure.

senders are for electric on pressure gauges so i assume it is not a mechanical gauge

12 to 15 hot for me 20w50.
50 is verry high i would think the filter would be in bypass with that pressure at idle. i could get 50 at idle with some gear lube.

First, What are you reading now?
Second, Drop the electric gage.
Lastly, Mount a mechanical unit and VERIFY the accuracy of the electric before you do anything else.

first i have a GNX style dash and i really dont want to get rid of it also the car has 50 PSI at hot idle and 75PSI at full tilt

I get about 18 PSI hot idle w/30W oil.
