I noticed after installing both front wheels that when I grab each side of the tire and move it front to back that it moves quite a bit. This is with the wheels in the locked position. I noticed that with the driver wheel all the way to its stop that I can move the tire enough to where the tire rubs the steering arm. I never noticed this before. What could be causing this? I do know that the ball joints and tie rod ends are good. Is this something with the steering gear?

or control arm bushings, steering box adjustments, wheel bearings, idler arm, center link, etc...

I replaced the wheel bearings during my front end rebuild, knowing that I had some play in the wheels. I couldn't believe the condition of the bearings and was surprised they didn't start to self-destruct in short order. They were likely the original bearings that have a PLASTIC cage housing the rollers. I could almost pry them apart with my bare hands. I would change them out for piece of mind.
