Does anyone know the stock timing advance for the hotair cars?
I would also like to know how much advance is working for you guys in your cars. If I understand correctly, the lower the timing, the more boost the engine can build without detonation, right? What is a good combination of timing/boost in your opinions? I am currently running 27 degrees of timing, and would like to lower that (since I can only get 10 psi boost), and possibly increase my boost, but I need some guidelines.

Thanks.

I can't remember what the stock timing is. 18 degrees works very well on 92 octane and I can run around 17psi with it. 24 degrees works well with 100 octane and 27 degrees like you have should be run with 110 minimum octane. That's a race chip you've got there. With the stock turbo you won't see gains above 20psi boost so I think an 18-20 degree chip on pump gas would work good.

Okay, I'll try the 19 degree chip again.

Just liked the driveability of the race chip, throttle response was waaayyy better. But, if the lower timing chip will allow more boost, then I'll give it a shot.

The difference in throttle response might not be due to the timing. The higher timing is usually only at WOT. You should be able to get the same throttle response with the street chip if it's tuned right for your car.

I WAS having some fuel pressure issues and a bad coil pack at the time, so maybe this has something to do with it , hehe.
