Well here's the story I just picked up a 87 gn with a blown motor , I was told it has a new converter , built trans in it but but I don't know the stall size how do I figure it out ?

The correct stock converter has D5 stamped all around the circumference. If there are no markings it will be hard to identify what converter/stall it is. You could post pics of it and someone may recognize it.

Pull the shield off and take a look while its still mounted, the color will narrow it down a bit.

It's all new and rebuilt if you can't test it out, right? Receipts from seller and even that ain't fosho. I guess I've been burnt too many times.
Do you have it running and nice red fluid in trans. Test it out is the only way I know to get a true feel for what it is.
