hi all just pulled ,my tranny out .convertor locked up on me .all kinds of metal in tranny and lines .what do i clean stock cooler and lines out with thanks. RR:confused:

A good parts house will have an aersol can product for flushing out the tranny lines.

I use a piece of 1/4" braided steel cable, like they use for garage doors for running thru the tubing to make sure it's clear. In high temp areas like by the exhaust the ATF can carbonize, and restrict the ATF flow. Using the cable gets that out. You might have to use some carb cleaner with the cable in bad cases.

Even with all the care in the world there's no guarantee to get 100% of the garbage out, but taking your time, and doing the above is the best I know of.

Cooler cleaner??

The ONLY correct way to clean the cooler is to replace it..either w/ a new part installed in the rad, or w/ an externally mounted cooler. [The external is more effective anyway.]
The contamination WILL NOT wash out completely.....

I would listen to this gentleman above.
Some great advice.
If you do not do it as he has suggested, the next trans to go in is doomed from the get go. As usual, Chuck is on the ball....:D

does buick still carry the stock trans cooler lines. i dont want to cut my lines, in order t o install a after market trans cooler ,and then not be able to find stock lines if i sell the car. iguess im just saying for now ,i want it to look decent if i do have to cut, the lines . thanks in advance RR

You do not have to cut anything

Our coolers come with the fittings so there is no need to cut anything.

Not to worry.
