I bought my 10" 3000 non lockup converter in 1/03. Of course the warranty is gone by now. I noticed the performance of my car dropping and was chasing what I thought was different problems. I had lost a full 4mph in the quarter. I pulled the converter to possible send it in for restall to 3500 and noticed a crack on the hub. They told me it would basically cost more than what I paid for it to go thru it again. I had a local rebuilder cut it open and he found that one of the fins of the stator broke off and was wedged between the stator and turbin. It looked like it had been there for a while so he rebuilt the whole thing for me for less than half the price. Also, 3 of the fins on the pump side were broken/folded over. This converter feels even better than when I first got it. Has anyone else had this problem with a Hughes converter?

Not a Hughes. I hope you had your trans freshened after that happened or your problems are just getting started. If you haven't installed it yet take the trans and have it done to save yourself from needing to do it later.

I went back thru the whole thing to make sure there were going to be no problems. I originally built this thing in 98 and decided while it was out, check it out. :)

Shifts are crisp and perfect. Believe it or not, there wasn't a speck of junk thru-out the tranny. Looked like it was all contained in the converter.
