Just finished the install this weekend and I have to say that this thing looks great!! And I have to say thanks to Kevin Williams and Mark Hueffman for the awesome work on the overlay. For those that are wondering, it's the black anodized overlay and the pics ( pos digital camera ) doesn't do it justice. Also I'd like to give a special thanks to TurboBob for the T+ box, his service and products are unmatched Period.

This install was so straight forward and easy that I wish I had done this years ago. I had a B&M Hammer shifter in before this one and a Hurst Promatic in before that and the Quarterstick just blows them both away. I was going to go with the Megashifter ( which is a nice shifter ) but I wanted something that looked more stock that it does although it was a hard choice to make. But now that it's finished I'm glad I went with the ¼stick. Here's the pics.

killer install. looks great! was it hard to do? can you give details? thanks--len

It wasn't hard at all. I just followed the procedure from this write-up http://www.turbobuicknewsletter.com/shifterarticles/index.html#page_4 and that was about it. The only advice I would give and that's becasue the instuctions are a little vague on this part is when you mount the ¼stick to the stock shifter bracket, make sure ( the quarterstick ) it's all the way over to the right touching the stock bracket ( figure #3 in the write-up ). You have to do that for the overlay to fit right. The article was the one the template was made for so it has to be exact. Oh, and I used 1½" bolts instead of the 1¼" it says to use. ( easier to get the nuts started under the stock bracket )

Looks awesome i always wanted to do that to my GN. I know you will miss that nice positve action of the stocker.:D

How much $$ for the overlay? :D

The one I have isn't as nice as that one...

Geoff the overlay was $70 and is the black anodized.

Turbov6 I installed everything in around 2½ hours over a couple days.

Thanks alot!! I tell 'ya the pics doesn't do it justice. BFH did a fantastic job on the overlay, it just looks sooooooo much better in person!! I need to pony up and get a good digital camera. Maybe Santa will have one for me in a couple of months:D

Can I ask where you got the shifter? I was under the impression Hurst didnt make it anymore.

Did you find it on egay?

I am still undecided what shifter I want.....

I am also undecided if I'll ever finish my car anyway, so it might not matter :p

Jim I ordered it from Jegs and got it in 2 days. Summit doesn't even show a valid part #. Here's the link:

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=1948&prmenbr=361

Part # 530-316-0030 for the 700r4 ( same for the 2004r )

It's a little pricey, but I tell you it was worth every dime!

What about the Turbo Action shifter from Jeg's? I think it would look real good in a TR. Has anyone put one in a TR?

Since that article was written, I re-did the Quarter Stick mounting. It now sits lower and more towards the ashtray. No longer is the mechanism visible above the console plate. It's now just the handle sticking through the console. Even used the factory black plastic slider that goes around the handle. Unfortuneately, I had to remove the ashtray in order to get the shifter to move into first gear. I wrote a follow up article but, as we know, TBN no longer exists. I'm not sure if the trigger handle would clear any gauges that are mounted in a console pad. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend and send them and have the pages updated on gnttype.org page.

Mark I think the original set up you did fit awesome!! Everything was thorough and weel thought out. I did everything step by step and it fit like a glove. I think the mechanism sticking out gives a good look and I don't think I'd change a thing. Thank You for taking the time and energy to document this project giving those that do it an easier road!! Thanks!!
