I have a 1987 T and I want to put a findable “cut off” switch I want to wire that switch to Fry the Computer/CPU/ECM
That said
To which wire on the Computer/CPU/ECM Do I feed power or ground to make this happen?
And yes I have other Cut off switches, alarm and a few other things.

Please let me know

You want to fry the ECM? Is that correct?

Yup just in case someone tries to steal it they wont get far.
I know it sounds crazy I could just replace it.

yes if it did not affect any thing else like burning a harness up who cares about the ecm baught one new for 125 dollars

I agree what if something else happened? I can't say if it would or not, but why take the risk. Why not have a toggle for the fuel pump and kill power to it? Mine's been that way for years and never had a problem. ;)

Just picture the perfect night for a car thief (heavy rain and lots of thunder)
How much time does the thief have to look for a hidden switch?

I bought my gn from my uncle who was the original owner. The car was stolen in 1989. He was staying at a hotel, the car had a locked car cover over it. They car was recovered about 3 blocks away, all wrapped back up in an apartment complex. At the time he was in Houston, and the cops told him the thieves would take the car. Park them a couple of blocks from where they took them. Then a couple of days later come back and if the cars were still there, load them up, and take them down to port and ship them overseas. Thank god they found it! He wired in the fuel pump cutoff switch and never had the problem again.

on my Astro i have nothing to provent theft and never had any problems.

the point of that statement is with your cut off switch how times has some one gotten into your car and tried to steal it?

My Point is simple if some one is in my car with plenty of time to work the will find "the switch"
in this guys case
they would hopefull find the "monkey wrench" switch first.

If you wire it like that, please make sure you have adequate and ample insurance (agreed upon value) in case the wiring harness starts a catastrophic short/ fire. There are alot of anti-theft devices that may be a much better alternative. Been on the boards along time and I don't remember this being asked?

I'll say this too..... if someone wants your car bad enough, you can't stop them. Case in point..... roll back truck/ tow truck. Think twice about next time you drive your nice collectible vehicle to a large car show to the parking lot there. To a thief, that's like a kid in a candy store with his choice of target vehicles. No one thinks twice about someone whose car wouldn't start and a roll back removing it. If you doubt this, it HAS happened in recent years in Commerce GA at a Super Chevy show! A good insurance policy and current appraisal is a proactive start.

How often are Astro vans stolen.....????

And yes I will concur, you can have all the kill switches to everything and anything, steering column protector, the club....you name it....unfortunately some people somehow have access to a roll back that shouldn't have....and steal everyone else's stuff as a result.

Now in terms of "agreed on" value insurance....this may be a good idea, but don't most companies who offer this limit the amount of miles you put on your car and where/when you can drive/park it......?????

You guys are Funny as hell.
The tow truck is known stuff but is it such a Crime to just not want your car driven away no mater what?
I actually like the idea of anything happening to the car besides it getting stolen and parted out even if it means burning to the ground in front of my house.
But of course since a tow truck can always take the car I should leave it opened with the keys in it.

And on the Astro it was an example for the I have a switch and nothing ever "happened Guy" Not in a bad way.

I am so sorry to rather burn the car to ground then to have more Buick parts on the market for every one else.

Does anyone know where do I feed power or ground to make this happen?

Just a suggestion. I have some kill switches in my car (dont want to say how many) and they arent the cheesy "kill power to the fuel pump, starter crap" I have them all shorting out power after the ignition switch is turn on and the car is attempted to start. For examples, with the switch close, it provides ground to the power side of the fuel pump once the key is turned on. This then blows the fuse for the fuel pump. The other kill switches blow other various fuses, ie ecm, starter fuse, headlamps, accessories, etc. This way the "thief" gets 1 shot to find all the kill switches. If not now he needs to find the kill switches and the burnt fuses...... oh yeah, hide some spare fuses in your car also incase you forget to "open" or switch the kill switches......

but to answer your question I would assume that wiring 12volts straight to the 5v output reference of the ECM would probly fry something! Good luck!

not to mention whoe ever might be trying to steal your car will most likely
a.) not have any spare fuses to replace the burnt ones,
b.) not have a wiring diagram to figure out which fuses control what
c.) not have any way to test the fuse/or power going to it
d.) probly wont find all the kill switchs
e.) and if he does he might even forget which way to put the switch, and if its wrong there goes another fuse.

But either way i would rather you burn 4-5 $.10 fuses than to fry an ecm everytime some tries to still your car or you forget to switch the kill switch before starting......

but if someone wants your car bad enough, theres always a tow-truck

I believe he said he had other kill switches already. I think what he may be planning is that if someone were to get into his car and it wouldn't start and started looking for the kill switch they would find the not so well hidden "computer self destruct" switch first. (Hey, it worked for Capt. Kirk and the Enterprise.) Flip it and then it won't matter if they find the real other one afterwards, the car won't crank. It wouldn't have to be armed or disarmed for normal operations. It would only matter if it was turned on in the theft attempt.

Although the fuse thing sounds more appealing for short time parking, if the thief had time and enough balls to check the fuse box he wouldn't need to carry extra fuses. Just pirate them from other circuits. Granted he would have to know what he was doing but pros can be pretty slick. Frying the ecm might seem extreme but unless the thief has an extra ecm the car won't crank no matter how many switches and fuses he finds.
