Proper plug gap?

I noticed in buick manual that came with car that if your regal has turbo 3.8 that the plug gap should be .045.I have always run .035.I kept the original plugs and checked them.....sure enough .045. ACR44TS

Service manual says .035" that may be a typo in the owners manual, the .060" for the other engines is backed up by the service manual.

I run the R43TS with a .035 Gap. My stockers R44TS also had a .035 and did real well.

That's just what the dude at the factory gapped them to... or didn't gap them at all and just shoved them in.

This. The gap needs to be wide enough to light the mixture, but not so wide the coil has trouble triggering the spark.

Since "94, I've always gone with a tight .030" on my street boost tunes. And tighter with race gas boost levels.
And Autolite # 23's down here in the south for iron heads. Autolite race plugs with aluminum heads.
