I drop my air temp today from 91deg to a steady 53deg today. I order a performance module from gmperformance and installed it in my GN it trick the computer in to thinking the car is getting cold air, then it will put more fuel in the car giving it more HP...I would recommend this product.... also i`m personally fabricating a new ram air system that would work only on a front mount intercooler, still testing it with the performance module and can really feel the power.. the module is cheap and you can get one or get info from gmperformance@earthlink.net and for the ram air kit i need someone to make custom make the pipe, but the one that is mounted on my car is CUSTOM MADE..Who can make the pipe i need for my ram air kit???

Wait so let me get this straight... instead of doing something to actually drop your intake temps (like a cold air kit), you've added a module that will throw off your mat sensor so when you tune the car to warm weather and then it gets cold, you can run the motor lean and puke your crank out the bottom of it.

Thats a good idea. I'll take 2 !!

Ehhh..the MAT sensor input on our ECM's does NADA,zillch,nothing..You can tell the ecm thats it 40 below zero and it wont change a thing...

Case in point..if you have turbolink..the boost sensing option is wired through the MAT sensor...

Only chip I know uses the MAT are the thrashers...and only makes monor changes.

Engine coolant temp sensor controls how rich..and thats why on our cars when it gets brisk outside we have to watch fuel pressure..

Lastly, a car when you dump fuel into it goes slower..leaner is meaner..and 900 for O2's isnt gonna make any power.

So spend your money elsewhere :)

LEANER IS MEANER right tell that to my head gasket i replaced!!!!!!!!!1 month ago

BEST POSSIBLE FUL RATIO IS THE LEANEST WITHOUT DETONATION
BUT THERE HAS TO BE A CUSHION FOR CHANGES SO SLIGHTLY
RICH IS BEST.AS FAR AS TRICK THE COMPUTER ON TEMP THE
EASIEST AND CHEAPEST WAY IS TO WIRE A RESISTOR IN
THE COMPUTERS COOLANT TEMP SENSOR CIRCUIT. THIS
WILL TRICK THE COMPUTER INTO THINKING THE ENGINE IS
RUNNING COOLER. THIS TRICK WAS WORTH 20HP ON A 98
CAMARO[DYNO RESULTS DON'T LIE]

While it's not much of a correction, the ecm does use the MAT for a MAF correction.

Coolant temp effects fuel and TIMING.

Read up on Jay Carter Variable boost timing chip, and you might figure something out about might be going on there.

My chip use the MAT for some serious timing corrections, if you go to GNTtype and in the chip info area they have the locations for the info in the chip, ie what get used and how.

Can you actually explain what's happening here?.
The MAT to MAF correction is very small, and for a 40d change hard to see what gains you'd get.

It really is better to get a good aftermarket chip, rather then guessing on what your change by messing with the MAT or CTS.

Wow.. getting more bones from Bruce :)

y-hate....Inproper tune will blow head gaskets, holes into pistons, make you a member of the DOTC club :)

MARINES185...Great cept our GN's dont use the computer from a 98 Camaro ;)

FWIW..DOTC is short for Drive Over The Crank

I don't have any first hand experience on the 98s, but I did a cal for a 95 LT1 Caprice. WOW, now there's a pcm. Flash, and drive. It's almost too easy.
