Well, let me be honest here. I have a reputation in my town for being the one you don't mess with. When guys from out of town come in talking trash, I get called on the cell to bring out the car and shut them up. Now, my car isn't that fast, but it will run 11's on the street. And I do mean on the street, not in street tune. I leave it in race tune most of the time, and leave the slicks on. And it feels good to be that guy. I like the respect. I like when I bring it to the local scene and everyone tells the "newcomer" that he's in for it. Last time it was a Lingenfelter 383 vette, with some kid driving it. It was his dads car, and I didn't even run him. My buddy shut him down in his blown Cobra. When everyone told him how much worse he would lose to me, he backed up. But if I do run, losing is not an option. I just gotta stay one step up on these guys, and they get faster every day, so I must as well. 12 second cars are a dime a dozen, and while you will rarely run into one on the street, you aren't the hero at the local drags with one, know what I mean? I set my goals to run 10's, and I don't like to fail. So I will keep at it, but honestly, when time, space and money allow, another Tr will be in the garage, in 12 second trim, and it will be a driver. I went overboard on this car, but I don't want to turn back. Its an ugly, self perpetuating circle. You gots to pay to play I guess, and I don't mind paying as long as I get to play, which isn't happening now. I wouldn't complain if after several 10 second passes it needed rebuilt, or new clutches in the tranny, or whatever.
