Hello,

I just picked up a 86 T type as a daily driver,
It does not have a posi rear end. This car
will never be faster the mid 12s. What posi
do you guys reccomend? The Eaton looks
really nice but the $450 scares me off.
The Lock Right unit broke in my other car
so I am not to sure about them. I have also
heard not so good things about the auburn units.

Please Help.

Does the $450 include installation?

Gears R us has Eatons for $329 everyday and Cotton had them special for $300 at BOP@Bristol.

I recommend the eaton over the others.

You could probably pickup a stock posi for around $100,I've seen them take alot of abuse, mid 10's.

For what you want ,mid 12's you'd be just fine.

Get the Eaton. It's worth the money, and one of those parts that isn't worth skimping on.

I paid about $400 for mine (uninstalled), but as mentioned, I've heard of them cheaper. I hear Gears R Us is good.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help.

It looks like if I can not find a stocker for a decent price, I will
just save up and get the Eaton.

What should I be expecting for an installation charge???

Thanks in advance.

Limited Slip Differential

Go with the Eaton if you can afford it.

Try to find a limited slip differential at a salvage yard.

I had a Eaton Posi installed in my car by Gears r us, they did a good job, no problems and the car pulls like crazy. I highly suggest getting the Eaton Posi..

Sorry, I can't rember what I paid for the install. Maybe 2hrs?

If you find a used posi you're going to have it freshened up, right? You'll have to pay a labor charge either way for the install. The Eaton is a stronger unit that will last longer and take more abouse. Before you make your decision, compare the TOTAL cost of each.

Good luck.

I'm lookin for a posi myself. More than likely I'm goin with the Eaton center. My question is 28 or 30 spline axles? is there a Big difference? I'm going to attempt this operation myself I'll you know if I F it up.

there is a big difference in the axles......if you are planning on going fast (10 sec & down) get the 30 spliners.....otherwise, don't bother
