I'd love to hang with you guys though. I don't get to see enough badass G-bodies. Next time you guys are down we should meet up. I'm usually down in the White 02 WS6.
And no I don't think i've heard of the board? Got a link?
Cool we will hook up, a few more weeks and we will be out quietly. Not like these meat whistle ricers racing up and down on 37, they bring the entire Dover Police Unit behind them. .....I will fill you in when I see you. When you are heading this way, shoot me a PM and we will hook up and shoot the s.h.i.t.. Great find, good luck, if you need the heads and Intake done we have a local guy that does AWESOME work.
We (about 7 '86 GN's) used to meet up in the Bob Kislin's parking lot...... talk some trash and then take it over to some great secluded spots until the wee hours of the morning......
Dover Road
Miller Air Park
Double Trouble Road
Airport Road in Lakewood
Depot Road in Lakewood
Berkeley and South TR cops were pretty cool back then.
We used to run with a stubby little guy from Mystic Islands.....his name was "Nitrous" Pete Misinsky. I used to be good friends with Joe Amato from Downs F*rd. Good Times!!!!

Dam those where the days, small world. I was still in High School but use to go out there with a few of my friends and watch you guys rip off some runs We could stay out there for hours and nobody would bother us. I remember Joe Amato and Nitrous Pete....man what a blast from the past. I miss them days, I always said then... I will own a GN someday. I could not afford one then and settled with a Monte Carlo SS 305 piggie. I use to flip the air cleaner and tell people it had a cam
Rice has really hurt us, 37 has seen many tragic accidents due to them just not using their head. Even back in the day, we would go somewhere quiet, no people and do our business and leave. These kids really live out the Fast and Furious
Small world indeed....I can remember running across nitrous pete on more than one occasion...I used to go down there with my Bud Larry.....at the time he had one bad as hell 86GN..I had a stock 13.9 85 Gt...Nitrous pete was running a Dark blue Notchback...I think this would of been around 1990....We would all hang out at that first shopping center on the right as you got onto 37 from the parkway south....There would be upwards of 50-75 cars just hanging out,I remember everyone was scared to Run Pete in that mustang....We were all in the lot...And pete was stalking around the lot looking for his next victim....It was funny to watch all the people act as if they didnt see him,Long story short....When he came rolling around our way...There was no time wasted heading out to that old Airstrip...And It just wasnt Pete's nite as the GN put the smackdown on him...(Gn had a bigger turbo Converter,And a 125 shot..He beat that GN like there was no tomorrow....And racing against a different mustang that I had later on he put the crank out of the motor....Then he turned it into a 9sec ride...At that point the car had 170K on it...Funny too...No scan Master...No real tuning software...But you could buy racegas at alot of the Sunoco Stations.
Pete and Larry went on to have quite a few races...With It being a 50/50 split I would say..They both just kept getting faster and faster every week...
Larrys car is still sitting in the driveway of his parents house....(He moved to Chicago)I had alot of good memories in that car,And have tried to buy it on more that one occasion...(It is a roller now...No Drivetrain in it for years)..Hell,It must be sitting for Close to 10 years now...And is still in pretty good shape body wise...His parents told me they want it out of the driveway,Larry keeps telling them he is going to come get it...And It just keeps sitting...
Sorry for babbling on...Just a little trip down memory lane.....
Yeah, Pete went through some cars and he was always loyal F*rd. When I first met up with him he had a '72 or '73 Red Mach 1 with a built 351 w/juice. He then jumped into the "modern age" with a Dark Blue/Silver '87 GT, juiced of course. He went through a lot of T-5's in those days.
Pete was way out of my league at the time because I was only running a Hypertech Chip, thermostat, open K&N and a gutted cat. I was pulling 13.80's all day long which was pretty decent back in '86.
The Roy Rogers at Fischer Blvd was the original hangout until we got kicked out of there and then we migrated to the R&S parking lot at the other side of town.
I still remember my friend Steve from Freehold....he bought the ugliest color Mustang GT you could find. It was the Dove Gray color/Silver combination. His brother Dave drove a Black '85 Capri 5.0....he still owns it to this day.
This is like a flash back, I remember all those days. I gutted the cat ran a hypertec chip and thought my SS was mean
I pumped gas through high-school at a Sunoco and was always filling GN'S and the T'S with race fuel. I always told myself someday I will have one. The rest is history.....
Those were the good ole days, I miss them
We try and keep it alive, just later at night and spots unknown to most. Like I said, the ricers have pissed off the cops to no point
This thread turned out to be alot cooler than I thought it was going to be haha.
Thanks alot NJTurbo its really appreciated. I could always use some reliable help around here. It's hard to find people that do good work anymore. This is going to be one hell of a fun summer.
Sounds like everyone could get away with having some fun in their cars a while back. I'm only 24 now but when I first started hitting 37 back in around 2000 when I had my 1991 Trans Am GTA I used to head down and we would gather up in a parking lot down a little bit from the parkway exit. It's where the Big Lot's is now. We used to get a pretty huge number of cars there (domestics) and cops would come through and not hassle us, just cruise through to look and make sure everything was staying civil. It was great everyone was pretty decent. It was like a car show every weekend. But not too much later on after the ricers were getting more popular they started rolling through and revving up and ripping burnouts like mad, causing trouble. Thats when we got the boot. From then on things got tighter and tighter. I don't even think about racing on 37 anymore. Cops have a clamp down like crazy on that area. I just go there now to hang out and bullsh!t and take a few laps up and down.
And 19TTA89 :
I hope you are talking about the GN i'm thinking of. Would it happen to be in Port Monmouth. I can't think of the road name right now but it's right before Wilson where the school is on the corner. Sitting in a driveway off to the right side? With the blue NJ plates sitting on it? I've never seen the damn thing move. And i've tried to knock and ask about it and never got an answer. Even left a note. I guess it isn't goin anywhere.
You are hitting the nail on the head about 37. I can tell you did your nights of hanging out down here. Cool Deal, do you plan on getting the engine completely done
Yeah it used to be good times down there. It's a shame it all had to come to an end. I remember one particular night I drove all the way down there for a mini meet up and not 5 minutes after we got there the ricers pulled in pulling the same crap. Bam insant boot. Sucks to take a ride for nothin.
And yeah the motor will be coming apart soon. Not this summer though. I'm trying to get everything taken care of from where i'm at and up and getting it on the road so I can cruise it a little. But as soon as summer is done with its almost a definite that the motor is coming out. I'm sure it could use some freshening. But i'm sure i'll be overfreshening it haha.

Sounds good, shoot me a PM when you are heading down. My house always seems like the crashing spot to watch street racing DVD'S and BS in the garage with the boys. You are more than welcome
