I think my MAF is dying. I can only get it up to 227 WOT. I checked for restriction and found nothing blocking air. I am running the Big Mouth cold air and have also notice a slight off idle stumber (Slight).. What do you think???? I think i may try my buddies MAF to see what happens....

Swapping the MAF with your buddy is the best way to test, having a spare MAF on the shelf for just such an occasion is ideal.

What was the MAF reading before?

How much boost?

Did the readings go down after the Big Mouth install?

My MAF readings went down after installing cold air sytems that located the K & N outside the engine bay. The longer the pre-MAF hose, the greater the impact on MAF readings. I suspect it's a "velocity" thang.

y26,

Did you recently install the cold air kit ?

My readings are low too (200 tops) and i have the slight off idle stumble. I didnt have any readings before the BM install.
but the off idle stumble appeared after i put it on. It could be
my maf was going and the cold air kit magnified it. Either way
time for a translator and lt1.

I think it's a better idea if you get the Translator+ with 3.5" LS1 MAF.... Keep in mind the LT1 MAF is older and will be discontinued by GM before the LS1.... You can get the setup (Translator+, 3.5" LS1 MAF, and Extender chip) from Mike @ www.ramchargers.com

:)

i have had the Big Mouth on for over a year now, I just got a scanmaster so i am not sure what the readings were before.
I know i need to research Ls1 maf, translator, and chip more...

I did some testing on this a couple of years ago.

I switched back and forth 4 times. I had the tip-in hesitation you mentioned when the cold air system was hooked up. It was when the K&N was hooked up under the fender. That long hose definetly screws up the velocity, until you get some MPH going.

Lance is correct.

I don't think it's your MAF...it wasn't with mine.

I just went back to under the hood and the problem WENT AWAY!

My MAF readings also went back up to 255 from the 220's-230's!!!

Oh, Oh! Hope it isn't my turn to get bashed here!:D Over 2 years of running my Big Mouth on my GN without ANY problems with the stock MAF and BOTH the LT1 and LS1 MAF's!
