i dont have posi and i want to make it posi what are some options that i might have without swapping the rear end.

Just swap in a posi unit for the 8.5". Simple, and relatively cheap to do, depending on whats needed. Most good aftermarket posi's are ~$400 (Eaton, TrueTrac, etc.). My 100K stocker works good though. Plus the installation kit, gear oil, etc. Other stuff like a new cover is optional.

Might be able to find a factory unit for 200 or so, maybe. I think I got a burned up Auburn in the shop somewhere.

There might be a lunchbox style locker available for the 8.5. I had a lockrite in a fullsize bronco and one currently in my grand cherokee. It causes the car to handle slightly differently when getting on/off the throttle mid corner or has a general slight push when turning with the throttle on. At low speed throttle on in parking lots the inside tire chirps a bit or just coasting you can sometimes hear it racheting. They were both around ~$300 or something like that and install with really basic tools in a few hours max, no idea how they hold up in something high powered though.
