Looks like (as expected) the 109 blocks are getting faster all the time with a combination of parts, new technology, knowledge and tuning, etc.

So, let's say (Read: "Deam about";) ) Buick decided to build a true Muscle car for the 2009 market.
It would be with the "Mighty" 231 V6, weighing in around 3800 lbs, with a sales price of $45K, what do you think:

1. They would put in the motor (Mechanical) and or engine management?
2. What about the transmission and supension?
3. It would run in stock trim in the ¼?

I wonder ......

Not sure where you are headed with this post but Buick will never build another high performance car ever again. In fact Buick may be killed like Olds in the next few years. Good because they don't make anything worth a damn anyways and it will raise the value of our cars more.

Headed to "Dream land", and, I am not refering to that AWESOME BBQ place in Birmingham. ;)

Seriously .........
All the newer turbo/super charged, big/medium CI motors that are out with some the cutting edge technology, that advertise 400 - 500 crank HP.

Many of you long term TR guys have been doing that for years! Heck, doing that even now with "old school" technology.
(Can you say 500 WHP with stock ECM?)

future buick

Maybe a belt driven supercharger (like a Cobra), direct injection, 5sp auto or 6sp manual, IRS, aluminum headed roller with VVT! 11.80's @120+ or 11.90's with the optional targa top:eek: yeah right.

But I think Don is right, GM doesn't have the financial room for Buick (or Pontiac for that matter) or a reason to compete with itself eg. Cobalt SS, Z06, Camero (?), various Cady sport sedans.

If they should ever kill the line I sure do not see it helping the value of our cars.

Why not? We'll all own cars from a manufacturer that no longer exists. I would think that would raise the value of our cars instantly.

Umm...we're not driving Nash Metropolitans, and this is 2007. Hold your car for another 20-25 years and yeah, maybe.

Ok fellas's ............
Let's try to stay on track.

The objective was to discuss about Buick (or any other auto MFG'r) to produce a turbocharged car putting 500+ to the tires, with a 3.8L max displacement engine, 3900lbs for around $45K.

From a technical perspective , sonds like it would be a motor with all the goodies for reliable HP.
I feel that any of the auto MFG'rs could do that for $45K.

Yes, No?
(This is not the polical forum, let's keep it somwhat technical  )

Just look at the current 2.0 LNF turbo'd Ecotech in the Sky/Soltice. 260HP out of 2 liters. Kind of equal to the old LC2 now, isn't it? I'd have to say it would be a V-6 version of the LSX series. If you made a NA V-6 version of the LS7(Z/06) that would be 320 cubes. Assuming 1 horse per cube thats some serious power from a big block V-6. Now assume the power doubles with a power adder and you're talking!

I've been all over the internet the last week or so. Here are two juicy rumors. The C7 Vette is going to be mid-engined. Now that was a rumor and in the past week its almost been confirmed that it,and the Caddy XLR, are going to be mid engined for 2010-2011. A mid engine Buick sports car would be perfect. Rumor number 2 comes straight from Bob Lutz as of this weekend. The ElCamino is coming back. Its going to be the current Holden Ute but it aint going to be tagged a Chevy. The last time Buick made a truck was back in 1928 if you dont count the current Ranier and Enclave. Okay Buick has had a Sport Coupe and a Sport Wagon. How about a Sport Truck?

A Buick sports car would be cool.

How about bring the Wildcat name back.

2 door coupe

3400 lbs max loaded w/ every option either Rwd or AWd w/tq diff type system with the rear being primary until slip is noticed.

Turbo whatever as long as it 375 hp or higher.

5 AT or 6sp m trans

Colors- Black, Orange, Silver, Blue, White, Red. With the option of candy/pearl clears
around 25- 30 k
And of course a GS and stage 1-2 models.

Never happen ...but, I can dream ..LOL
